  • A Shadow and a Light

    A Shadow and a Light

I would not trade the soft whispers of my soul
for the bright music of fleeting praise.
Nor the shadows that give it shape
to melt in the radiance of endless sunlit days.
I would wish my spirit a shadow and a light.

A shadow to give me solace and the space
to feel the textures of the world unseen.
A light to guide my footsteps through the labyrinth
and find loveliness in what might have been.

    A shadow to ground me to the earth’s dark center;
A light to lift my gaze to distant, promising skies.

I would rather my way had a seeking heart than that I accepted dull conjecture.

I crave the ache of reaching for the stars above,
for those who settle for dust have lost their deep hue.
I have known the thrum of a love that burns,
and its soft whisper rings more clear and true.

When the evening falls, the tired bird takes rest
and dreams of flying on the morning breeze.
As sunrise wakes it leaves the sheltered nest
to greet the largeness with a glad prayer.

The life of birds is quest and return.
    A shadow and a light.

The river flows from mountain’s height away
and gains strength from every winding stream.
It cuts its course through darkness and through light
until it flows to the sheen of the ocean.

The life of rivers is a sharing and a gain.
    A shadow and a light.

And thus the self departs its boundless source,
to wander through the landscapes of the Now,
through the summits of strife and the span
of peaceful valleys where gentle breezes blow.

To reach the final current, smooth and deep,
and lose itself once more where all beginnings sleep.

  • I To I – One in Two

    I To I – One in Two

    If splitting the atom
    Is an atomic bomb,
    Then imagine what splitting
    The quarks will produce.

    Imagine we are able
    To see beyond.
    Imagine we can
    Witness deeper.

    We would reach
    The splitting of the
    Big Bang.

    That particle and seed
    Was split.
    Is the question by whom?
    Or how?

    Maybe it is natural
    Behavior.
    Splits to connect.
    Inhale, exhale.

  • Love and Hate

    Love and Hate

    The opposite of love
    Is harm.
    Love gives
    Life a meaning.
    Harm gives life
    The illusion of a meaning.

    Truth whispers,
    Lies shout.
    One nurtures the soul,
    The other depletes it.
    Authenticity blooms slowly,
    Deception wilts fast.

    Kindness ripples,
    Cruelty destroys.
    One throws bridges
    Over rivers,
    The other makes them
    Torches.
    Through empathy hearts
    Come together
    By indifference
    They move apart.

    Change is accepted
    By growth,
    While stagnation
    Fights it.
    One unlocks
    Better opportunities,
    While it locks
    All options.
    Curiosity
    Broadens horizons;
    Ignorance
    Abridges them.

    Forgiveness
    Gives freedom;
    Resentment
    Enslaves.
    One can heal scars
    While another widens them.
    Compassion enlightens
    But apathy darkens.

    In this theater,
    We direct
    Our own paths.
    Every move
    Is a stroke
    Towards life.
    Love encourages
    Various colors
    While harm
    Uses a single dark hue.

  • Let There Be Light

    Let There Be Light

    Light comes in,
    And shadows go away,
    Not vanquished,
    But veiled.

    As with concealed memories
Waiting out there at the edge
    Of consciousness.
    Darkness makes its spooky mark,
A palimpsest on the fabric of space.

    Yet light could obliterate,
    However,
    The trace remains,
    A black relief.

    As brightness increases,
    Shadows disappear.
Our form appears to rise, unraveled.
    The more luminous we become,
    The lighter we weigh,
    Through light’s caress matter ends.

    In this equilibrium
    Between seen and unseen,
Light wipes off what is hidden beneath it.
    But then,
There is a trick you can do with your fingers:
    Press it.

    Make it brighter
Or darker, that’s up to you
    The decision is yours
But it’s something that’s not often known.
In warm bright or cold dark contact
Your core discovers how to go down or stay up.

  • Slay the Giants Within

    Slay the Giants Within

    Find love in yourself,
    And when you meet
    The hungry giants of evil,
    Feed them from your heart.

    Witness the fight
    Of success and failure,
    Of life and death.
    You’ll find only one hero-
And the other does not exist.

  • Enter Thy Dream

    Enter Thy Dream

    In my tent,
    I create and I invent.

    And in my tent
    I peel,
    The images of my senses,
    In an attempt,
    To reach the grounds,
At which my conscience can’t extend to prevent my memory,
From joining the potential of two extremes.

To look at the judge’s vacant seat
Makes being at two opposites at once, real,
    Zero indeed -time leaves-
So as I approach this final shade.

    And when everything now
    Feels colorless, tasteless, odorless, mute,
    And all of that
A legend alarms the shadow of night,
So just to strike my tent with light.

Imagine a subconscious in too deep,
As a divine dream rises to capture the universe and its deities.

A voice from far and near sounds as if it is coming from outside,
And simultaneously from within me says:
    “Enter thy dream.”

    I enter.

    I dream.

  • Brave Insanity

    Brave Insanity

You need to know both sides,
They call me the observatory king.
    When you walk in light,
    You walk with your shadow.

    I came from everywhere,
    I lived everything,
I have truth for every doubt,
My mirror will direct this show.

    Look on my work.
    I am sin.
    I am desire.
    I am passion.
    I am innocence.
    I am inspiration.
I am a god whom people are scared to look at.

    Yesterday
    Today
    Tomorrow

    A brave insanity
    Is the beginning,
    And I am
    Without an end.
